Copycat Burger King Sandy Ice Cream (Thermomix Recipe)
Craving the iconic Sandy Ice Cream from Burger King? You can easily whip up a delicious homemade version with just a handful of ingredients and your Thermomix. This recipe delivers a silky, airy ice cream that closely mimics the original.
Ingredients
- 500 g milk
- 30 g cornstarch (such as Maizena)
- 100 g sugar
- 30 g butter
- 1 vanilla pod
- 4 egg whites
Instructions
1. Prepare the Ice Cream Base
- Place the milk, vanilla pod (split and scraped), 60 g of the sugar, butter, and cornstarch into the Thermomix bowl.
- Cook for 10 minutes at 100°C on speed 3.
- When the mixture has thickened, pour it into a freezer-safe container.
2. Cool and Freeze
- Let the mixture cool at room temperature until no longer warm.
- Transfer the container to the freezer and leave it for at least 4 hours, or until completely frozen.
- This freezing step is crucial for achieving the right creamy, scoopable texture later on.
3. Whip the Egg Whites
- Wash and dry the Thermomix bowl thoroughly.
- Add the remaining 40 g of sugar and grind for 10 seconds on speed 10 to make fine sugar.
- Insert the butterfly whisk.
- Add the egg whites to the bowl and beat for 8 minutes on speed 3, until firm, glossy peaks form.
- These whipped egg whites are what give the ice cream its signature light and fluffy texture.
4. Blend and Finish
- Take the frozen base out of the freezer and cut it into small chunks.
- Put the frozen pieces into the Thermomix bowl along with the stiff egg whites.
- Mix for 45 seconds on speed 3, until smooth, creamy, and well combined.
Serve immediately for a soft, airy consistency reminiscent of Burger King’s Sandy Ice Cream, and enjoy your homemade Thermomix copycat dessert!
