Potato Fritters Recipe
Ingredients
- 2 large potatoes, peeled and grated
- 1 small onion, finely chopped
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1/4 cup all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
- 1 egg, lightly beaten
- Vegetable oil, for frying
- Sour cream or applesauce, for serving (optional)
Total Time: About 25 minutes
Instructions
-
Prepare the mixture
In a large mixing bowl, combine the grated potatoes, chopped onion, minced garlic, flour, salt, pepper, and beaten egg. Stir until everything is evenly mixed and the ingredients are well coated. -
Heat the oil
Pour enough vegetable oil into a large skillet to create a layer about 1/4 inch deep. Warm the oil over medium heat until hot.
-
Form and fry the fritters
Spoon portions of the potato mixture into the hot oil, gently pressing each mound with a spatula to form flat patties. Fry for 2–3 minutes per side, or until each fritter is crisp and golden brown. -
Drain excess oil
Using a slotted spoon, remove the fritters from the skillet and place them on a plate lined with paper towels to soak up any extra oil. -
Serve
Serve the potato fritters while they are still warm. Add a dollop of sour cream or a spoonful of applesauce on the side if you like.
Enjoy your crispy potato fritters!
