Potato Fritters Recipe

Ingredients

  • 2 large potatoes, peeled and grated
  • 1 small onion, finely chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1/4 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 egg, lightly beaten
  • Vegetable oil, for frying
  • Sour cream or applesauce, for serving (optional)

Total Time: About 25 minutes

Instructions

  1. Prepare the mixture
In a large mixing bowl, combine the grated potatoes, chopped onion, minced garlic, flour, salt, pepper, and beaten egg. Stir until everything is evenly mixed and the ingredients are well coated.

  2. Heat the oil
Pour enough vegetable oil into a large skillet to create a layer about 1/4 inch deep. Warm the oil over medium heat until hot.

  3. Form and fry the fritters
Spoon portions of the potato mixture into the hot oil, gently pressing each mound with a spatula to form flat patties. Fry for 2–3 minutes per side, or until each fritter is crisp and golden brown.

  4. Drain excess oil
Using a slotted spoon, remove the fritters from the skillet and place them on a plate lined with paper towels to soak up any extra oil.

  5. Serve
Serve the potato fritters while they are still warm. Add a dollop of sour cream or a spoonful of applesauce on the side if you like.

Enjoy your crispy potato fritters!
