Rosemary & Avocado Seed Hair Tonic (DIY Scalp Spray)
Ingredients
- 2 large sprigs of fresh rosemary (or 2 tablespoons dried rosemary)
- 1 dried avocado pit (seed), finely grated
- 2 cups (500 ml) water
- (Optional) 5 drops rosemary or lavender essential oil (to boost both effectiveness and scent)
Preparation
1) Prep the avocado seed
- Rinse the avocado pit thoroughly and pat it dry.
- Grate it or chop it into small pieces (it’s very hard, so work carefully).
- If it still feels moist, let it air-dry in the sun or a well-ventilated spot for 1–2 days.
2) Simmer the rosemary and seed
- Add the water, rosemary, and grated avocado seed to a small pot.
- Simmer on low heat for 10–15 minutes.
- Turn off the heat, cover the pot, and let it steep for at least 30 minutes (up to 1 hour for a stronger infusion).
3) Strain and bottle
- Strain the liquid and pour it into a clean bottle or spray bottle.
- If using essential oils, add them now and shake well to combine.
How to Use
- Apply daily or every other day.
- Spray the tonic directly onto a clean scalp, then massage with your fingertips for 3–5 minutes.
- Leave it in—no rinsing required.
- Store in the refrigerator for up to 7 days.
Benefits for Scalp & Hair
- Rosemary: supports scalp circulation, may help reduce shedding, and can encourage hair growth.
- Avocado seed: packed with antioxidants, helps strengthen hair at the root, and may calm scalp inflammation.
- Essential oils (optional): can add mild antiseptic properties and improve the overall aroma of the spray.
