Ingredients
- 6 sheets puff pastry (store-bought or homemade)
- 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
- 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
- 1 egg, beaten (for egg wash)
- 1 tablespoon sesame seeds
- 1 teaspoon black seeds (Nigella seeds)
- 6 slices turkey or beef ham (optional)
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 180°C (350°F). Line a baking tray with parchment paper.
- Lightly flour your work surface and gently roll out each puff pastry sheet to even it out.
- Place one slice of ham (if using) on each pastry sheet.
- Sprinkle a generous amount of shredded cheddar and mozzarella over the ham.
- Starting from one edge, roll each sheet into a tight log. Press along the edge and ends to seal so the filling stays inside.
- Arrange the rolls on the prepared baking tray with the seam side down.
- Brush the tops with the beaten egg to help them bake to a glossy golden color.
- Sprinkle sesame seeds and black seeds over the rolls for extra flavor and crunch.
- Bake in the preheated oven for about 15–20 minutes, or until the rolls are puffed, golden brown, and crispy.
- Allow them to cool slightly, then serve warm and enjoy.
Tips & Variations
- Customize the filling: Swap in your favorite cheeses or add extras like spinach, bell peppers, mushrooms, or olives for a more nutritious twist.
- Reheating: These cheese rolls are best fresh out of the oven, but you can reheat them in a hot oven for a few minutes to bring back their crispiness.
- Serving ideas: Ideal for breakfast, brunch, tea time, or as a party appetizer, these Golden Crispy Cheese Rolls are always a crowd-pleaser.
