  • 2 ripe bananas
  • 1 liter milk
  • 3 tablespoons cornstarch
  • 20 ml milk

For the Bananas Foster Topping

  • 10 g butter
  • 50 g sugar
  • 1 banana

Instructions

1. Prepare the egg mixture

  • Separate the egg yolks from the egg whites.
  • Place the 6 egg yolks in a large mixing bowl.
  • Add the sugar and vanilla, then whisk until the mixture is smooth and well combined.

2. Add the bananas

  • In a separate bowl, mash the ripe bananas with a fork until soft.
  • Stir the mashed bananas into the egg yolk mixture and mix thoroughly.

3. Add the milk

  • Pour in the 1 liter of milk.
  • Whisk everything together until the mixture is fully blended.

4. Dissolve the cornstarch

  • In a small bowl, combine the cornstarch with 20 ml of milk.
  • Stir until the cornstarch is completely dissolved and no lumps remain.

5. Combine and cook

  • Add the cornstarch mixture to the banana and egg mixture.
  • Stir well to incorporate.
  • Transfer everything to a saucepan.
  • Cook over low heat, whisking constantly so the pudding does not stick to the bottom.

6. Thicken the pudding

  • Continue cooking for about 10 minutes, or until the mixture thickens to a creamy pudding consistency.
  • Divide the pudding evenly into 4 small dessert cups.
  • Let them cool so the pudding can begin to set.

How to Make the Bananas Foster Topping

1. Melt the butter

  • Place the butter in a pan over low heat.
  • Allow it to melt completely.

2. Make the caramel

  • Add the sugar to the melted butter.
  • Stir well and cook until the sugar melts into a caramel-like mixture.

3. Coat the banana

  • Slice the banana into pieces.
  • Add the banana slices to the caramel.
  • Stir gently until each piece is evenly coated.

Assemble the Dessert

  • Spoon the Bananas Foster topping over each cup of banana pudding.
  • Refrigerate for at least 3 hours, or until fully chilled and firm.
