Traditional Nopal Cactus Drink Recipe

Ingredients

  • 1 small nopal cactus pad, fully de-spined
  • 1 lemon
  • 1 cup water (250 ml)

  • 1 sprig mint (optional)

Instructions

  1. Rinse the nopal pad thoroughly and make sure all spines and tiny prickles are removed.
  2. Chop the cactus into small pieces.
  3. Add the pieces to a blender.
  4. Pour in the water, add fresh lemon juice, and include honey or sugar if desired.
  5. Blend for 30–40 seconds until smooth.
  6. For a lighter texture, strain the drink before serving.
  7. Serve over ice, and garnish with mint if you like.
