Homemade Condensed Milk Recipe

Ingredients

  • 1 cup (240 ml) whole milk
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 1 cup (200 g) granulated sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract (optional)

Instructions

  1. Pour the milk and sugar into a medium-sized saucepan and stir to combine.

  2. Set the pan over medium heat, stirring continuously until all the sugar has completely dissolved into the milk.

  3. Once dissolved, bring the mixture to a gentle simmer. Lower the heat to a minimum and let it cook for about 30–40 minutes, stirring from time to time.

  4. As it simmers, the liquid will gradually reduce and become thicker, turning rich and creamy.

  5. When it reaches a condensed, velvety texture, remove the pan from the heat. Add the butter and stir until it melts and the mixture is smooth.

  6. If you like, stir in the vanilla extract for added aroma and flavor.

  7. Allow the condensed milk to cool, then transfer it to clean jars or containers. Store in the refrigerator, where it will keep for up to two weeks.
