Can You Solve This Egg Riddle?
Think you’re good at logic puzzles? Here’s a deceptively simple egg riddle that trips up almost everyone on their first attempt—about 99% of people answer it incorrectly the first time they see it.
Before you scroll, pause for a second and really think it through.
Ready? Here’s the riddle:

“I have 6 eggs. I broke 2. I fried 2. I ate 2. How many are left?”
Lock in your answer in your mind. Now let’s look at where most people go wrong.
Common Mistakes People Make With the Egg Riddle
The main trap in this brain teaser lies in how we interpret the actions: broke, fried, and ate. Many people instinctively assume that each of these verbs applies to a different set of eggs.
In other words, they imagine:
- 2 eggs are broken
- a different 2 eggs are fried
- yet another 2 eggs are eaten
That approach leads to the conclusion that 6 eggs were used up in total—leaving none behind. But that’s not what the riddle actually says.
The wording never states that these are separate eggs. The same eggs can be:
- broken
- then fried
- then eaten
So the 2 eggs you break can be the same 2 you fry, and those can be the same 2 you eat. If you fail to consider that these actions might overlap, you’ll almost certainly miscalculate the number of eggs remaining.
The trick is to recognize that the riddle is about how many eggs are left unused, not about how many separate actions took place.
Bonus: Honey Buffalo Meatballs Cooking Instructions
Switching from riddles to recipes, here’s how to handle the meatballs portion described in your notes.
-
Shape and Pre‑Bake the Meatballs
Roll the prepared meat mixture into meatballs of your preferred size. Arrange them on a baking sheet and bake in the oven for about 8 minutes, or just until they begin to brown lightly. -
Prepare the Honey Buffalo Sauce
While the meatballs are in the oven, add all of the Honey Buffalo Sauce ingredients to a medium-sized mixing bowl. Whisk thoroughly until the sauce is smooth and well combined. -
Layer the Meatballs in the Slow Cooker
Place a layer of meatballs on the bottom of your slow cooker. Drizzle some of the Honey Buffalo Sauce over this first layer. -
Add Remaining Meatballs and Sauce
Add the rest of the meatballs to the slow cooker and pour the remaining sauce over the top, making sure everything is coated. -
Slow Cook and Adjust Seasoning
Cover and cook on low for about 2 hours.- After roughly 1 hour, open the slow cooker, give everything a good stir, and taste the sauce.
- If you prefer more heat, stir in a bit more hot sauce—about 1½ tablespoons is usually enough to add an extra kick.
