Homemade Natural Ginger Beer Recipe
Enjoy a refreshing, zesty, and soothing homemade ginger beer made with simple, natural ingredients. This recipe is perfect if you love bold ginger flavor with a hint of lemon.
Ingredients
- 7 oz (about 1 ½ cups) ground ginger
- 15.2 fl oz (about 1 ¾ cups) mineral water
- 8 oz (about 1 cup) sugar
- You can substitute with organic honey if preferred
- 3.9 fl oz (about ½ cup) sparkling water
- A few drops of fresh lemon juice
- Lemon slices, for garnish
- Ice, for serving
Instructions
-
Cook the ginger base
Add the ground ginger and mineral water to a saucepan. Place over medium-high heat and bring to a boil. Once boiling, lower the heat and let it gently simmer for about 10 minutes. -
Strain the liquid
Remove the saucepan from the heat. Carefully strain the hot ginger mixture through a fine mesh sieve or cheesecloth into a large bowl or jug, pressing to extract as much liquid as possible.
-
Sweeten the ginger mixture
While the liquid is still warm, add the sugar (or organic honey). Stir thoroughly until it is completely dissolved. -
Cool the mixture
Allow the sweetened ginger liquid to rest at room temperature until it has cooled down. -
Add bubbles and lemon
Once the mixture is cool, pour in the sparkling water and add a few drops of lemon juice. Stir gently to combine without losing too much carbonation. -
Chill the ginger beer
Transfer the ginger beer into a clean, airtight bottle or container. Refrigerate for at least 4 hours, or until thoroughly chilled. -
Serve and enjoy
Fill glasses with ice, pour over the chilled ginger beer, and garnish with fresh lemon slices.
Sip and enjoy your homemade, natural, and invigorating ginger beer.
